A coach. Not a player.

I sometimes need to remind myself that as I engage with teams and people I support.

Being biased to action (and an ex bball player) often makes it tempting to jump on the court and take the winning shot.

It’s absurd, could you imagine Phil Jackson subbing Michael Jordan and stepping on the court to take the last shot?

The reality is that if you do that, you’ve failed yourself and your team.

Accept your role, trust that you have the best players on the court and focus on creating an environment where they can excel and shine their talents.
